- Reviewed in the United States on October 26, 2024I just got my book a couple of minutes ago, very fast delivery! This is the second time I have this wonderful book (replacing the old, damaged one), and being a used one it's in very good condition! Absolutely beautiful with lots of very detailed illustrations by Mr. Marshall and of course, real pictures of the ship. Lots of great information by Mr. Lynch. Highly recommended, this is a masterpiece
- Reviewed in the United States on June 5, 2020I got a used hardcover, I didn’t realize I had bought it used but I also didn’t care because it was quite well priced. I have to say that even though it came “used”, the previous owner took very good care of it to which it well deserved considering how magnificent this book is. I have been glued to the pages and the wonders they hold. The three greatest Titanic Historians, scientists, and artists wrote this book collectively and I have to say that this is the best collection of ideas, art, and history one could possibly have if the Titanic, The Ship of Dreams.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 11, 2011I ordered this book because several of the school-age children I work with were showing interest in the Titanic. The only book we had on it was a thin little "I can read" book. When this book came in the mail, I was immediately pleased with it. It is a large book with probably around 100 pages. There are actual photographs, paintings, diagrams, etc. Every detail is included. The book describes the idea for the ship, how it was built, who bought tickets, what the cabins were like, the food they ate, personal stories about real families and individuals who were on the ship, how and why it sank, and stories of both lives lost and survival. This is a book for adults, but the children needed something more than a beginning reader on this.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 16, 2020The movie Titanic was based on this book, that's where James Cameron got his inspiration and the attention to detail in the movie. Great historical information with lots of pictures and unique stories not told in the movie.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 20, 2009I bought this book for my eight year old son and he LOVES IT! He's a big fan of the Titanic and owns several books and DVD on the subject. As all the other reviews mention, this is an excellent book. Well written and all the information about Titanic, shipwrecks, history, history of technology, history of America, ocean liner, shipwreck, ships, etc are great. The illustrations and photos are outstanding. Great work Mr. Donald Lynch and Ken Marschall. If you're a fan of the Titanic this book is a must for your collection.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 14, 2012The information, the original pictures, the paintings, the illustrations are simply priceless! I borrowed this book from my local library years back and was sorry when I had to return it! And finally, this book is mine! For those of you looking for a good book on Titanic, there is no better choice than this! James Cameron used this edition to assist in the screenplay and production of Titanic, so it's no surprise most of the paintings and illustrations look a lot like the movie! I strongly recommend! You won't regret it!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 12, 2024This is one of my favorite books about Titanic in my collection. I bought this to replace one I had previously owned but was lost.
This book tells the history of Titanic from concept through it's construction and outfitting to the sinking all the way through its discovery and the recovery of artifacts.
It is beautifully illustrated as well which makes it a great addition to anyone's collection.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 21, 2016I've always been intrigued by the amazing machines that mankind has created - the Titanic is no exception to this. Of course, its true legacy remains as the largest and most luxurious ship of its time that ultimately could not complete its maiden voyage. Because this great ship sank before it had a chance to be properly documented, books like this are the best way I've found to remember her - through the gathering of the limited photos actually taken, together with a description of her relatively short history as compiled by Donald Lynch, and complimented by the art work by Ken Marschall - whose artwork exceeds in detail and realism any photos that *might* have been taken during that time period!

5.0 out of 5 stars Une occasion en très bon état
Un très beau livre d'occasion, il faut un peu maitriser l'anglais car il y a pas mal de texte, mais très bien documenté.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bellissimo libro
Ottimo acquisto.

4.0 out of 5 stars La biblia del Titanic
