I could have sworn there is a Vl Lewton thread, but could not find it.
DVD Savant says more and does a better job than I could ever do. But I have this set and I am rewatching them all again with the commentaries. Fascinating stuff and just top-notch films. I can't recommend them and this set enough.

I haven't seen any Val Lewton films....I know of him, but, like I said, don't know his work cuz I haven't seen any. I do have Cat People in my netflix queue, but who knows when I'll get to it. If I enjoy that, I'm sure I'll look into those other ones.

Martin Scorsese narrates the tribute to Val Lewton documentary, it was on TNT I believe it was and it is included in the lastest edition of the box set. I just mention this because Marty is such a big fan of Val Lewton, that says alot, I think Scorsese knows a thing or two about good movies and movie making.
It is hard for me to pick a favorite Val Lewton movie, but I am extremely partial to I Walked With a Zombie, The Seventh Victim, The Leopard Man and Isle of The Dead. While Cat People and Curse of The Cat People are his most well known, I'd say eveybody needs to see his entire body of work. I mean any serious cinephile.
Seriously, get busy people!
