what are everyone's thoughts on this movie. saw it for the first time the other day, pretty disturbing lol. however, one thing i did notice was the actress emilie de ravin. saw her on lost and recognized her from the movie. she's pretty good.

Now that you've seen the remake...go watch the original.

I doubt the original will do much for our friend if he liked the remake.
To be honest, when Wes Craven's original was finally released 'uncut' on DVD I rushed out to get one coz I remembered THHE being one of the classic visceral horror's of the 70's...but to my chargrin it looks incredibly tame by comparison to the new one.
Still worth seeing though....

I love the remake, and actually think it's better than Aja's prior, Haute Tension. The original is so-so, I mean it has interesting themes and all but it's just friggin' boring most of the time :D

It was f*ckin' awesome when it first came out, though. We'd never seen anything like it. And we'd never seen anything like Michael Berryman

Trivia: Wes Craven based THHE on the true story of incestual, cannabalistic cave dweller Sawney Bean and his in-bred clan of 30 or so feral sons, daughters, and grandchildren who preyed on travellers in 16th century Scotland. Craven simply updated it and set it in the US desert. There was due to be a film version of the Sawney Been story..set in Scotland in the right time period due to star Oliver Reed as Sawney. But sadly Ollie died before anything was set in stone and no one else seems to have picked up the project.

I wish somebody would make a movie set in the right time period.
